Gekco’s action plan

KYALAMI - Gekco is inviting all interested parties to attend their meetings.

The following is a statement issued by the Greater Kyalami Conservancy (Gekco) chairperson Kristin Kallesen.

The meeting held on 12 November and recent meetings towards an Integrated Plan for the Kyalami area were initiated by the conservancy, but are public meetings for community input on environmental and development issues and a future plan for the area. This is being workshopped with residents’ associations, developers, equestrian stakeholders and land owners in the area, as well as the conservancy.

Andrew Barker, a town planner has been employed as an independent planner to facilitate the process.

The boundaries identified as the core area are the agricultural properties in the Kyalami AH, Ext1, Glenferness, Beaulieu, Diepsloot AH, Saddlebrook, Sun Valley, Bridle Park and Blue Hills. Adjacent areas which have been identified as having an influence and have expressed an interest are Blue Hills, Crowthorne and Diepsloot.

All residents in the area are welcome to attend and form part of the core participant team, whether they be members of the conservancy, a residents’ association or have any other interest in the area.

The objective is to bring the community together and share ideas through this forum with up-to-date information on development applications and proposed roads and infrastructure in the area obtained from professionals.
