Volunteers awarded

MIDRAND - Police Station commander Colonel Steven Moodley and management commended the work done by victim empowerment volunteers.

Together with the Community Police Forum (CPF), the station management said they were impressed by the volunteers’ work with survivors of crime.

The volunteers met with the CPF and the police on 15 November, when 20 volunteers were treated to a breakfast at the Protea Hotel in Midrand, which doubled up as a team-building exercise.

Station management showed their appreciation by handing out certificates for the volunteers’ good work during 2014.

The co-ordinators, Constable Nanty Belebesi and Nicola Arend, were present on the day. Mr Billy Rudlin from the CPF also thanked the volunteers, and said he had first-hand experience of how important the counsellors were after he had once been traumatised and had a session with them.
