Reya Vaya disrupted by taxi strike

JOBURG - Reya Vaya bus service is also expected to face disruptions due to the taxi strike that has left commuters in Johannesburg stranded.

“There will be protest action by the taxi industry today [17 November], affecting Reya Vaya routes in Soweto, Auckland Park and the CBD,” said Metro police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar.

According to Minnaar, the affected routes would be Chris Hani Road and Mooki Street in Soweto, New Canada and Fuel roads, Kingsway Road in Auckland Park, Empire Road and Rissik Street, and Commissioner and Albertina Sisulu roads in the inner city.

Traffic in the inner city is expected to be disrupted from 10am to 1pm, Minnaar said.

“Officials would be on the scene to direct traffic, but motorists are advised to avoid these areas.”
