Man sleeps through robbery

NOORDWYK - A Noordwyk man has had his valuables stolen in the night.

The man whose home is on Sagewood Avenue said in a statement to the police that he went to bed at about 10pm on 4 November.

He awoke to find the door to his house was wide open, and valuables worth R150 000 were stolen.

He first noticed that his DVD player had been taken, then he realised the TV set was gone as well. Upon seeing this, he looked around his home and found that his laptop, amplifier and computer box had also been taken.

The man is adamant that all his doors and windows had been locked when he went to sleep.

No one has yet been arrested and Constable Nanty Belebesi, social crime prevention co-ordinator of the Midrand police said investigations were being conducted in order to determine how the possible intruders could have gained entry into the man’s home.

“A case of theft was opened with the police on 5 November. We are still busy with investigations,” she said.
