Man has important documents stolen

HALFWAY HOUSE - A man has had his passport and work permit application stolen on Old Pretoria Road in Halfway House.

The man alleged that on 4 November at about 11.33am he was walking next to the BP petrol station on his way to the Midrand Home Affairs department. He approached three men and asked for directions to the department.

The three men then told him to walk down the road. As he was walking, one of the suspects grabbed his bag and ran away with it.

Inside the bag were his application forms for a work permit, his passport, a memory stick, Capitec bank card and his spectacles which are valued at R3 690.

As the one man was running away with his belongings, the other two held him down and searched him for valuables.

Constable Matome Tlamela, Midrand police’s communications officer, confirmed that a case had been opened with them on the same day as the incident.

“No arrests have yet been made and police are still busy with investigations,” she said.
