Walking for animals in distress

MIDRAND - The Society for Animals in Distress hosted its annual fun run/walk.

Supporters of the animal welfare organisation were out in full force regardless of the rainy weather.

“Supporters, avid health seekers and community members enjoyed a brisk, or leisurely stroll around the neighbourhood,” said the society’s corporate and media fundraiser, Carmen Douglas-Kitfoil. “Many of the participants saw the amazing transformation of the organisation’s new animal hospital and administrative building for the first time.”

On the day, the organisation’s premises fondly known as The Paddocks was alive with entertainment provided by the MIX FM team. Animal Physiotherapy Group South Africa, Metro police and NetCare911 were on site to lend a hand when needed at the race.

The first 100 finishers received prizes and an invitation to the society’s annual Carols by Candlelight event at The Paddocks in Vorna Valley on 29 November from 4.00pm.

Douglas-Kitfoil said, “We wish to thank all our supporters, namely Run/Walk for Life, APGSA, CiplaVet, MIXFM, Bill Graceful, KidiSportz, Christine Williams Realty, Champion Pet Foods, EverySun (INCOLABS) and NetCare 911.”

“[Not forgetting] staff and volunteers who were part of the planning and set-up,” she added.

The organisation foresees that they will continue to provide and serve the eight townships they work in daily.
