Awards ceremony at Glen Austin High School

GLEN AUSTIN - Glen Austin High school held its first excellence awards, an event that was a huge milestone for the school.

Vice-principal Dirk van Niekerk said, “It was amazing to witness the excitement parents, school staff and pupils had for the awards evening. We are proud to have applauded those who did well throughout the year.”

The chief executive officer of the school Shadi Laka and distinguished guests also attended the awards ceremony.

Pupils who received awards were:

Bonolo Molope, Grade 8 – Aggregate higher than 70 percent, Best aggregate in English, maths, life orientation, economic and management sciences, social sciences, creative arts, computer application technology and accounting.

Keabetswe Seema, Grade 9 – Best aggregate in English, technology, accounting and half colours for an average higher than 75 percent.

Refiloe Ntombela in Grade 8 and Mark Dube Grade 9 came second in their grades.

Keabetswe Seema – Girl of the year.

Mark Ndlovu – Boy of the year.

Magda de Wet – Player of the season, girls soccer.

Bonolo Molope – Golden boot of the season, girls soccer.

Brandon Moyo – Chess player of the season.

Lesibana Muofhe – Soccer player of the season.

Samkelo Mvelase – Soccer golden boot of the season.

Lee Crossland – Touch rugby player of the season.

Nosipho Mhlungu – Public speaking interschool – B symbol

Keabetswe Seema -Public speaking interschool – B symbol

Rachel Robertson – Public speaking – B symbol

Magda de Wet- Public speaking – B symbol

Brandon Moyo – Public speaking – UN debate
