Foetus found in drain

IVORY PARK - A feotus was found in a drain at a property in Kaalfontein on 19 October.

Ivory Park police spokesperson Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela said police did not have much information as to how the foetus ended up on the complainant’s property.

“Police received a complaint from an unknown person and went to the address where a foetus was found. The complainant said the drain was overflowing in the yard, and that’s when the foetus was discovered,” said Sekgobela.

Sekgobela said in cases where a woman was found to have discarded a foetus, she would be charged with concealment of pregnancy.

If the baby is born alive, and is later abandoned by the mother and left to die, the woman will be charged with murder.

Anyone with information can contact Ivory Park Police Station on 011 990 9600.
