DJ rides for children’s home

MIDRAND - A local radio DJ and voice over artist will take part in the 94.7 Cycle Challenge to show his support for a children' charity.

Gavin ‘Vin’ Deysel will ride to raise funds for Botshabelo Babies Home, a home for orphaned and abandoned babies, which is based in Midrand. He said, “Since children have a special place in my heart, it was only natural for me to choose Botshabelo as a charity to ride for. Listeners on my radio show have helped me pick the type of charity to show support for.”

The DJ took a tour of the home and also met other cyclists who will be riding in the 94.7 challenge for the home. Funding co-ordinator for the home, Michelle Hinrichsen said “The money raised will be used to better the lives of the children at the home. The aim of the home is to care for the babies until they find a permanent home where they are adopted and have a sense of belonging.”

She added, “Over 140 children have been cared for at the home over the years.”

Residents and companies can help Botshabelo by supporting Gavin ‘Vin’ Deysel’s ride by sponsoring some of the teams costs. For more information log onto www.cyclechallenge.co.za
