Pink is the new black

KYALAMI- Kyalami Equestrian Park was abuzz with socialites, celebrities and horse fanatics as fashion brand Polo hosted the start of the Polo International Horse Trials.

A fashion show and brunch kicked off the first day of a three-day equestrian charity extravaganza as the fashion brand displayed its latest summer pink collection. The ‘pink’ collection will be sold at all their stores nationwide where a percentage of the sales will go towards the Cansa foundation.

All guests were dressed in pink attire in aid of women’s health and cancer awareness. According to Laura Stuart, marketing manager for the brand, it was the second year that they had organised the International Polo Horse Trials and the fourth year they have run the Pink Pony campaign.

“We donated about R100 000 last year to Cansa through this campaign,” she said. “We aim to exceed that number this year.” The company additionally organised a walkathon and all proceeds raised on the day were donated to Cansa.

Munnik Marais, the head of corporate marketing at Cansa was pleased by the number of guests that turned up to support the cause. He urged women during the months of October to be aware of their health, and should regularly visit their doctor. “The attitude that it won’t happen to me, is the problem,” he said.

Guests were able to mix and mingle while indulging in delicious pink treats and champagne as they watched a dressage performance. Delighted by the vibrant summer collection, socialites who prefer to go by their social media names, Alan and Krishen told Fourways Review that they were pleased to support such a campaign. “We love that fashion heads host events like this, it goes to a good cause and we can enjoy fabulous fashion,” they added.
