“Helper stole my ring!”

MIDRAND - Resident has claimed that her former housekeeper stole her wedding and engagement rings, along with two other rings she received for her 21st.

She wrote an impassioned letter to the Midrand Reporter, claiming that the sentimental value of the rings made them irreplaceable.

She also said she last saw her housekeeper on 30 September.

“She came to work as always. Being the last day of the month she had requested to be paid cash as opposed to EFT. She said there was a problem with her account,” wrote the employer.

“On the morning of 1 October, [I found that my rings were missing]. “My engagement ring is the only thing I have left from my deceased father, he gave that ring to my mother in the hospital the day I was born, it’s very precious to me. My two smaller rings were given to me for my 21st birthday. They are also very sentimental.”

Upon discovery of the missing jewellery, she said she immediately called her housekeeper and has been calling her since. There has been no response.

She said she had also been to other places where her former employee was known to work, but no one has seen her either.

She is calling on anyone who might have information to contact the police.

Constable Nanty Belebesi confirmed that a case of theft had been opened with the Midrand police on 1 October.
