Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela said Ivory Park police heard about the murder from the community and proceeded to the scene.
“On arrival police found a 31-year-old man lying in a pool of blood. Witnesses said they had heard the couple fighting before the incident.”
Police found broken knives and bottles on the floor.
The suspect was taken to Tembisa Hospital for treatment for her wounds, and then discharged and taken to a police holding cell on 6 October.
The suspect has denied killing her boyfriend.
She said he committed suicide. Police are investigating the case and the suspect will appear in court soon on a charge of murder.
