Rabie Ridge Youth House hosts heritage talent show

RABIE RIDGE - Rabie Ridge Youth House held a talent show for the youth of Rabie Ridge on 24 September.

Heritage day was the perfect day to host the talent show as it encompassed the theme of individuals being proud of where they come from.

The community and the youth came together to support the house and their efforts. The Halfway House Library sponsored the day.

Bjorn De Wee, also a RRYH volunteer, was proud of the community spirit shown and he shared other projects the youth house is involved in. “At this point, we are engaging with schools and are trying to create an environment conducive to studying,” he said.

Classique Promotions, a company that does corporate branding, lent them their sound system for the event. Zinkosini Dlamini, the graphic designer of the company said, on the reasons for their generosity, “We are big on community building.”

“The Rabie Ridge taxi association sponsored R500 worth of vouchers for runner ups, and the youth house will award R1 000 to the winning team or individual. These sponsored prizes will be awarded at a prize giving ceremony, the date is yet to be announced.

“RRYH is founded by Shemi Zulu. The goal is to get children away from the temptations of drugs and alcohol,” said Steven Deliwe of the youth house. “We are also trying to recruit youngsters to get involved in sports and arts.”
