Two carjamming suspects arrested

NOORDWYK - Two suspects, suspected of using carjamming devices to rob cars in the Noordwyk Spar centre, were arrested at around 9pm on 19 September.

Midrand police communications officer Constable Matome Tlamela said police would determine whether the suspects were linked to the many carjamming and theft-out-of-motor-vehicle cases in the Midrand policing precinct.

She said the suspects were arrested after a tip-off notified the police of the two men who were thought to be suspicious in a white Polo at the center and suspected of using a car jamming device.

Midrand police reacted and gave chase to the vehicle. Tlamela said the police cornered the vehicle near the New Road on-ramp to the N1 South.

Tlamela said, “They were caught in possession of laptops, carjamming device equipment and several registration plates.”

She said the suspects were detained at Midrand Police Station and face charges of suspected stolen property.

Midrand police officers arrest two suspects and recover suspected stolen items.
