Honeydew resident sizzles to victory

WATERFALL - Honeydew resident Nelly Ramajampa is the 2014 Shoprite Checkers championship boerewors competition regional round winner.

The competition was held at the Waterfall Corner Shopping Centre.

Ramajampa said, “I am a boerewors maker and enjoy what I do. Entering the competition was exciting for me.” She won a R1 200 Shoprite Checkers meat voucher and hampers from Coca Cola, All Gold and Simba.

Second place went to Selvarani Moodley who won a R600 voucher and hampers, and Graaitjie Uys was placed third winning a R400 voucher and hampers.

Checkers regional butchery manager Scott Schrade said, “The competition is fantastic and it is interesting to see what the contestants can do.”

The competition was judged by South African Chefs Association judges Philippe Frydman, Adrian Vigus-Brown and Mark Cameron who will all be involved in the judging of the provincial rounds, and the grand finale at Sun City. Celebrity and musician David Fourie emceed the event.

Ramajampa will go through to the provincial round taking place on 13 September.
