Prevent car jamming incidents

MIDRAND - Midrand police spokesperson Constable Matome Tlamela said residents must do all they can to prevent car jamming incidents.

“There are many car jamming incidents in Midrand, but they can be prevented by ensuring that doors are locked at all times,” he said.

Midrand police advised that to prevent car-jamming one must:

  •  Lock vehicle and manually check that it is locked.
  •  Be alert of people hanging around when you park and lock.
  •  Ensure that valuables are out of sight.
  •  Be alert of people hanging around you when you put valuables in the boot of the vehicle. Thieves target laptops, iPads and cellphones.
  •  Jamming devices are small and look like a gate remote control, be alert of anyone holding that.
  •  Park near CCTV cameras at shops and garages so that your vehicle is monitored.
