200 women graduate

DIEPSLOOTR - Women from Diepsloot were among the 200-plus women who graduated recently.

Amalgamated Beverage Industries celebrated the graduation of the Early Child Development (ECD) practitioners and cooks in whose lives the company has invested over the past three years.

The event which was held at St George’s Hotel in Doornkloof also saw the launch of an alumni programme for the practitioners and cooks.

Amalgamated Beverage Industries director of corporate affairs Tshidi Ramogase said, “The graduates benefiting from the company’s R11-million investment in early child development since its inception in 2010 are all women.”

She explained that the company’s goal for the past five years had been to target ECD centres where teachers lacked training and the facilities needed upgrading. “We did this in the hope that children attending these centres will be equipped with the right tools to succeed at school.”

She said that the company will not be taking on any further ECD centres in the programme.

“Through the alumni programme we will maintain the current infrastructure and relationships with the 144 sites we have invested in,” she said.

Ramogase said the women who have graduated now have the opportunity to get decent jobs.
