Car jammer arrested at Carlswald

MIDRAND - A car jamming suspect was arrested at Carlswald shopping centre on 15 August.

Midrand police spokesperson Constable Matome Tlamela said the complainant said he parked his car at 6pm at the centre and all doors and windows of the vehicle were properly locked.

“An hour later while he was at a restaurant, a security guard came in asking who the owner of a certain vehicle is, giving number plates of a white Audi,” said Tlamela.

“The complainant identified himself as the owner of the vehicle, and the guard told the complainant that a suspect had stolen a bag from his car but centre security managed to apprehend him.”

Tlamela added that the complainant was given the bag to check if any contents were missing and the complainant found that a laptop and an iPad had been stolen.

The suspect (29) was arrested and appeared in court on charges of theft out of motor vehicle.
