Ipi Tombi – Update on explosion
HALFWAY GARDENS - Gauteng Provincial Police officer Captain Augustinah Selepe has told Midrand Reporter that two safe boxes were found after the explosion at Ipi Tombi.
“The boxes were found still intact, this is how we know that an ATM was not the main target,” she said.
The building belonged to Johannesburg Property Company. The spokesperson for the company, Kululwa Muthwa confirmed that officials from the property company were at Ipi Tombi to inspect the building and extent of the damage after the explosion. She said, “The damage was extensive and the incident has been reported to an insurance company, an assessor will also determine the extent and cause of the damage.”
Muthwa added that the assessment report will guide officials in providing a more comprehensive report.
