Care centre gets a facelift

MIDRAND - The Midrand branch of Keller Williams Real Estate helped to uplift Thuthukani Centre in Ivory Park, which cares for vulnerable and orphaned children.

The real estate’s operating principal, Sharon Jordaan said it was Keller Williams Real Estate’s culture to give back to the community; once a year for a full day, the Keller Williams’ offices worldwide help organisations within their areas. “With over 100 000 agents worldwide, you can only imagine the global impact,” said Jordaan.

In honour of the company’s global initiative to give back to the community, Keller Williams Real Estate offices, based in Halfway Gardens, helped Thuthukani Centre. “We identified a care centre, Thuthukani Centre, [that was] in urgent need of repair. They house approximately 400 children from ages one to 18. Recent rains damaged the roof, ceilings and carpets. We established a fund.” She said the real estate agency, with the help of sponsors, spent a day upgrading the centre’s gardens, painting classrooms, fixing the roof, plumbing, and repairing new flooring for the classrooms.

She said sponsors helped to contribute to the initiative and the company extended thanks to Nel Attorneys, SA Homeloans, Bishop Jackson Khoza, Rob Jones, Krytalbrook, Nadim and Vimila Ally, Lara Shadwell, Khetha Dlamini, and Seremed Pharmaceuticals.

She said the sponsors and agents also spent time playing with the children and handed out hotdogs, sweets, cooldrinks, clothes, books and balloons.

She said the real estate agency’s support for the centre would be ongoing.
