Community learns about Love Trust

JOBURG - Non-profit organisation, Love Trust hosted a fun-filled evening to raise funds and awareness for their work in the Midrand area.

The evening was held at the Barnyard Theatre, Rivonia.

Love Trust fundraiser, Lindsay Owen said, “We are striving to make a difference to education.” She appealed to attendees of the event to sign pledge forms to either donate money or inform the organisation of potential donors.

Chairperson of the board of governors, Bishop Morrison said, “Nokuphila School is a project of the Love Trust that began with the intention of creating new opportunities for vulnerable children and their families. We hope to serve these people in a way that will open up horizons and provide hope for an improved quality of life.” He thanked the community for their support of the organisation.

Love Trust was established in 2009 to serve vulnerable children and their communities. Christ Church Midrand, a preparatory and high school opened in 1997 and in 2010, Nokuphila School in Thembisa was started for pre-school and primary pupils.

A video shown at the event of testimonials of parents and caregivers revealed just how much the pupils enjoyed going to school. One parent said her children were upset when it was Saturday and there was no school.

Love Trust also runs a Teachers Training Centre in Thembisa for pre-school teachers.

The organisation’s future vision includes expanding Nouphila School to also provide secondary school education and offer more teacher training to community members.
