Life Carstenhof Clinic celebrates Nurses Day

MIDRAND - Life Carstenhof Clinic hosted its annual International Nurses Day event to celebrate the work done by its nurses.

Life Carstenhof Clinic nursing manager Sibongile Mcunu said, “The world celebrates nurses every year on 12 May. The theme for this year is A force for change – a vital resource for health. The clinic recognises the important role that nurses play in providing quality care to patients in the community.”

“Nurses Day gives us an opportunity to say thank you to each and every one of our nurses for their dedication to the profession. We want to encourage our nursing staff to continue aiming for excellence in delivering quality nursing through professionalism, compassion and personal care,” added Mchunu.

In a country where nurses are often accused of being insensitive, rude and impatient, Vuyokazi Royi, a nurse at the clinic said she appreciates the recognition. She said, “As a nurse this day means a lot to me as we are recognised for the important role we play in people’s lives. I am proud to be a nurse and am eager to continue assisting patients.”

Hospital Manager Linda Bhagaloo said the work nurses do should be appreciated. She said, “The clinic appreciates all the work that nurses do. Your role is key, please continue to do the work you have been doing. Life Carstenof Clinic has 9 516 nurses country-wide.”

The nurses were led through their pledge and lit candles to celebrate their profession.
