Beauty is over the moon

MIDRAND - Mrs South Africa contestant and Midrand resident, Lindela Mzobe has made it to the top 24 finalists.

Mzobe said, “I was over the moon when I heard my name. My fellow semi-finalists are a strong group of beautiful women. I, a rural girl from Bizana in the Eastern Cape, have made it to the finals of the competition. It is unreal.”

Mzobe is a wife and mother who has sound advice for young women. “I want to tell all young girls and women that it is possible to achieve any dream. It does not matter who you are or where you are from. If I won the Mrs South Africa title I would want to put the spotlight on the under privileged young women in rural areas.”

Chief executive officer of Mrs South Africa, Joani Johnson said the 24 finalists were announced at a Gala dinner at Emperors Palace. “Traditionally the pageant is portrayed as superficial and a ‘beauty only’ oriented industry,” she said. “Mrs South Africa is a pageant with substance. We look at homemakers, wives and mothers who have careers and are ambitious. The pageant empowers women.”

The new Mrs South Africa will be crowned on 8 August at Emperors Palace.
