Midrand Primary school hosts carnival

MIDRAND - Parents and pupils attended the carnival at Midrand Primary School on 12 April.

Art teacher Meshack Mashati said the purpose of the carnival was to just have fun. “We wanted to do something that would bring parents and pupils together to just have fun and relax.”

“Art pupils at the school designed large costumes to showcase their talent and creativity by using any objects they could fine such as wire, fabrics and boxes. We want parents to also see what pupils do in Art classes and to encourage their artistic skills in any way they can,” he added.

Pupils and parents also took part in a walk around the school and past the Russian Church. The costumes designed by pupils were showcased during the walkabout around Noordwyk.

Pupils took park in dance competitions, played netball and soccer and had fun on the jumping castles and water slides.

Wandile Mantshontsho, a pupil, said he enjoyed the carnival. “At least we are having fun at school today, it is not only about learning.”

Metro police supervised the walk and made sure that the pupils and parents were safe while walking along the roads.

A band called Ebony Express entertained the crowd.
