Navigating potholes

MIDRAND - Potholes are still the number one complaint of Midrand residents.

Many residents have joined Midrand Reporter’s #Fixthispothole campaign by sending photos of the potholes that need repair on Midrand’s roads.

The newspaper’s staff are well aware of how difficult it is to drive on Midrand’s roads, dodging traffic and weaving between potholes. We took a video of our staff driving on roads in Crowthorne which can be viewed on the Midrand Reporter website.

Midrand Reporter’s BBM readers said they had to avoid multiple potholes on their drives to and from work in Midrand. BBM user Avi Ramdhani said, “To put it mildly, Midrand makes Zim [roads] look good.”

BBM user Toffie sent photos of seven potholes within a 1.5m stretch on Third Road and Sixth Street. He pointed out the following potholes:

  •  Corner of Sixth Street and Third Road
  •  Corner of Third and Bokmakierie roads
  •  Corner of First and Third roads
  •  Corner of Segal and Third roads
  •  Corner of Harry Galaun and Fifth roads

Reader Lawrence Chetty pointed out the following potholes:

  •  Seventh Road, between New and Tambotie roads
  •  Between Norfolk Road and Wisken Avenue
  •  In the middle of the intersection of Garden and Tambotie roads
  •  Kiaat and Eighth roads intersection.
  •  Harry Galaun from intersection of Seventh Road onwards.
  •  New Road by Walton Avenue on both sides of the road.
  •  Walton Avenue

All of these pothole problems, and others, have been reported to the Johannesburg Roads Agency and assigned reference numbers as part of an agreement between the roads agency and the newspaper.

Send your pothole problems by sending them to the newspaper on one of its various platforms.
