Businesses in and around Midrand were encouraged to make use of social media.

TheBizMix networking session was organised by MixFM and took place at Vodaworld on 29 January.

Al Karaki of MixFM gave business owners and managers a platform to give a brief of the businesses and banking institutions represented at the networking session.

A social media expert, Dr Nik Eberl, told business representatives at the networking session at to be social media savvy. “Advertising has gone diverse with social media. Business owners must take advantage of the free platforms of social media to advertise their businesses…A lot of businesses do not succeed because the people in the driving seat do not understand the impact social media has on business.” He added that business owners need not be intimidated by social media, but should rather take advantage of it.

At the end of the session, Karaki advised business representatives to be vigilant as Midrand crime statistics are on the rise. “Always be alert and make sure you take note of your house or business. Criminals know which properties are easy to target.”
