Chainsaw robbery

MIDRAND - A business was robbed on 16th Road in Halfway House of chainsaws with an estimated value of R35 000 on 4 January at 4am.

Midrand police communications officer Constable Matome Tlamela said, “According to the complainant he was on duty as the security officer when he was surprised by an armed unknown man who pointed a firearm at him.”

She said the complainant was ordered to open the guardroom door and his hands and feet were bound with shoelaces and a cellphone charger cable.

“While the complainant was lying on the ground he heard the sound of the glass of a window breaking inside the company building,” said Tlamela.

“The suspect left the complainant tied up, however he was rescued by his colleagues at a later stage.”

No arrest has been made. Midrand police requested anyone with information that would lead to the arrest of the suspect to call Midrand police.
