Pilot injured in crash-landing

WATERVAL - A helicopter pilot sustained moderate injuries after making a crash landing in Midrand at around 3pm on 21 December.

Arrive Alive reported that the pilot made a crash-landing in the open veld along Allandale Road in Midrand and sustained moderate injuries.

The helicopter was lying on its side when paramedics arrived on the scene. Arrive Alive said the reason for the crash-landing was unknown but would be investigated.

The helicopter was reportedly a Robinson R22.

@MedixGauteng reported on social network site Twitter that the pilot was the sole occupant of the helicopter, was alive and treated by emergency services.

@bigjohnson2 tweeted that the pilot was stable and was being taken to Sunninghill hospital for further treatment.
