Car seats for kids

GLEN AUSTIN - Paddington's Educare Centre in Glen Austin responded to the Car seats for kids campaign for National Transport Month.

The school has collected four car seats that are awaiting collection. Principal Candice Gilford said, “Paddington’s Educare Centre understands the importance of vehicle safety in South Africa. We joined together with Active Education and collected car seats for the campaign.”

The campaign is driven by 94.7 Highveld Stereo’s Breakfast Express and Imperial-I-Pledge. The aim is to collect car seats for parents who cannot afford them. Darren Simpson, host of Breakfast Express said, “Currently in its second year the campaign has made a difference in the lives of many. We set a target of 1 500 car seats at the onset and I am proud to announce that we have far surpassed that number. Thanks to all schools, companies and individuals who have chosen to support the campaign.”

Nick Cronje of Imperial said, “We urge all road users to continue to ensure that their children are strapped in, not just during transport month, but whenever they are on the road.”

Wheel Well founder, Peggy Mars said, “All the car seats donated are re-upholstered, safety checked and cleaned before being given to anyone who is in need of one.”
