Sagewood Prep donates to SPCA

MIDRAND - Grade six children from Sagewood Preparatory School donated dog food to the Midrand SPCA.

One of the pupils, Nastascia Montepara, was very excited that they would be spending the morning with dogs and cats at the SPCA. “The idea came up during our Life Orientation class project: we had to come up with a campaign to prevent cruelty to animals and we asked our teacher if we could help the SPCA. We want to collect more food and toys for the dogs,” she explained.

Sharne Scrooby, the Grade 6 teacher said, “We would like to thank the pet shop in Centurion Lifestyle Centre for donating starter-packs for us to bring to the SPCA. This is not a once-off act of kindness; the high school is going to continue supporting the SPCA, we plan to make this a yearly event.”

Midrand SPCA animal welfare inspector Theo Mokgatle thanked Sagewood Preparatory School for their donation. “These children are learning from an early age how animals should be treated. If you see an animal being abused please report it to the SPCA and we will come and investigate the issue. The SPCA is full of stray, abused and abandoned dogs and cats.”

After making the donation, the children took a walk around the premises to see cats and dogs in their cages and kennels.
