Man shot during scuffle with robbers

On 16 August at 10:30pm, a President Park resident was shot outside his house.

Police spokesperson Constable Matome Tlamela said, “The victim heard a noise outside and left his house to investigate the source of the noise. While investigating he came across three males who were all armed. He approached them and a fight ensued during which the suspects shot the resident.”

The man was taken to hospital for medical assistance.

Constable Tlamela said, “No-one has been arrested yet and the police are investigating. The community is advised to call the police when they hear any noises in their homes.”

Tlamela added, “When you hear a noise in your home rather call for assistance than investigate yourself. Do not put up resistance if the attacker has a weapon. Give up and obey the instructions of the attacker and try to move away from them, if possible. Remember that your life is worth more than your possessions. Don’t try to be a hero.”
