Young men receive gifts for their future

MIDRAND - Male pupils from Eqinisweni Secondary School received a gift of school shoes and ties from 'Men for development in South Africa' and South African Breweries.

The money for the donation was raised last year when Red Devils Football Club won R2000 prize money during the Sixteen Days of Activism: Tavern Intervention Programme Soccer Challenge.

The club had to find a charity to donate half their prize money, and they chose the school.

The soccer challenge aims to change the attitudes of men towards issues like gender-based violence, children’s rights, HIV/Aids and responsible alcohol consumption.

The event began with words of motivation by Ward 79 councillor Petros Zitha, and some members of the club.

They spoke about the evils of drug and alcohol consumption and urged the pupils to stay on the right track and value their education.
