‘Passengers’ hijack man
On 5 August a man was hijacked in his white Mercedes Benz just past midnight by two suspects in Barbeque Downs.
The victim was allegedly called earlier in the evening to transport the two suspects, whom he knew, from Woodmead to Midrand.
According to Constable Matome Tlamela, while on their way one of the suspects, who sat in the back, pointed a firearm at the victim and the other suspect, who was sitting in the passenger seat, assaulted him with an empty bottle.
“The complainant was thrown out of vehicle and the suspects fired a shot at him before driving off in his car,” said Tlamela, adding that the vehicle was later recovered in Pretoria through a tracking device.
No-one has been arrested yet and police are investigating.
