A feast of school water polo

Schools across the city - and the country - are flocking to the pools as three of the biggest water polo tournaments of the year get underway.

PARKTOWN BOYS U15 TOURNAMENT

From 1 – 4 March, U15 teams from 20 schools will be battling it our for the top place at Parktown boys high school. On Thursday, play runs from 4.30pm to 7.30pm, Friday from 7.30am to 7.30pm, Saturday from 7.30am to 7.30pm and finishes on Sunday from 7.30 to 12.30pm.

Participating schools include St Peters College, Parktown Boys High, KES, Maritzburg College, SACS, Jeppe, Clifton, St Davids, Reddam, St Johns and Pretoria Boys High (see link below for full fixtures).

KES WATERPOLO TOURNAMENT U19

From 2 to 4 March, the KES Water Polo Festival hits the city with general play on Friday and Saturday, followed by knock-out rounds on Saturday afternoon and the finals on Sunday.

Participating schools are KES, Bishops, Durban high School, Grey College, Grey high school, Jeppe boys high school for boys, Maritzburg College, Parktown Boys high school, Paul Roos Gimnasium, Pretoria Boys high school, Rondebosch Boys high school, Selborne College, SACS, St Andrew’s College, St John’s College and St Stithian’s College.

ROEDEAN SCHOOL WATERPOLO TOURNAMENT

On 3 March, Roedean School will host the play-offs and finals of its long running  Roedean School Old Mutual Water Polo Prestige Cup. Participating schools include Roedean School , Kingsmead College, St Mary’s School for Girls, St Stithians College, Crawford College Lonehill, St Peter’s College, Rand Park Ridge high school, St Dunstain’s, St Dominics School for Girls and Pretoria Girls High.

The winning team will be awarded a cash prize of R20 000 courtesy of Old Mutual that will go into a specific school development project related to swimming or water polo in their partner school.
