Noordwyk Secondary School’s top performers celebrated during valediction ceremony

Head co-ordinator of valediction Aarthie Ramsingh said each and every learner is honoured, whether they’ve obtained distinctions, awards, or not.

With a short time to go before the 2024 matriculants sit down for their final exams, Noordwyk Secondary School hosted a valediction ceremony to display academic excellence with a bit of musical talent thrown in for good measure.
This happened on October 9 at the school premises in Noordwyk.

Head co-ordinator of valediction and English HOD Aarthie Ramsingh said that the team plans for this months in advance to showcase the school’s Grade 12 learners in a style that befits their exemplary academic successes.

Ramsingh said deep thoughts and sharing of ideas go into selecting colours, themes, invitations, items for entertainment, and speeches to inspire the learners for the final examination starting October 21.

“Every learner is honoured, whether they’ve obtained distinctions, awards, or not. No child is left behind, or made to feel less important, as Noordwyk Secondary encompasses the notion that every child and every ability is accepted and prioritised. That’s not to say the stars of the night did not shine bright as they were most definitely given a platform and their just rewards,” said Ramsingh.

The top ten consisted of Mbali Malebye, Ofentse Modisane, Dan Mulaudzi, Marlene Muthezo, Oratile Mofokeng, QaIo Lekhesa, Paballo Diketane, S’fiso Skosana, and Ompha Mudau with the Dux scholar being Sibusiso Ndzukulu.

Ramsingh added that each learner in the top ten was gifted exceptional prizes from school sponsors Falcorp, sponsoring Volkano speakers and headphones.

“The 2nd and 3rd learners received a tablet and headphones respectively, graciously sponsored by Kairav and Yumna Ramsingh and our Dux recipient was gifted an Acer laptop from Rebatho Madiba. The school is honoured and proud to be associated with such kind and generous benefactors who always support the school in all its endeavours and live up to the age-old idea that it does, indeed, take a village to raise a child”.
