After the session, there was training equipment to be won, which included weighted gloves, fitness resistance bands, jump ropes, hollow foam rollers, and anti-burst gym balls. The city’s Sports and Recreation assistant director, Mandla Mahlangu, said the aim of the aerobics sessions is to promote a healthy lifestyle among residents. “The aerobics sessions brings social cohesion, togetherness, and a sense of belonging. It’s also a distress mechanism. It has aspects of physical, psychological, as well as emotional well-being. Today’s session was phenomenal and I call on all community members, young and old, to join us so that we can grow participation,” said Mahlangu.
