Born in Kumasi, Ghana, from a young age Adomako discovered his knack for hairstyling. Cutting his friend’s hair at the age of 14 served as the foundation for his future endeavours.

“When I was still in boarding school, there was no barber at our school, and I started cutting my friend’s hair. And since then, this has been my bread and butter,” he said.

After completing high school, the 27-year-old’s journey into the world of beauty services began when he secured a job at a salon in Midrand.

Despite finding employment, the desire to create something uniquely his own burned brightly within him, setting the stage for the birth of Nation Barber in 2017.
“For me, starting my business was hard because people don’t trust new businesses, especially in the salon beauty industry. It is very difficult to get customers who will trust you and believe that you can do what they want, and if you get a customer who believes and trusts you, it becomes very easy for you to get more customers.
“For me, beauty transcends mere appearances. It embodies empowerment and self-expression, values I instill in my salon’s ethos. By embracing African aesthetics and celebrating natural hairstyles, Nation Barber stands as a testament to cultural pride and creativity.”

Adomako employs 30 people and offers trendy men’s cuts to intricate children’s braids. His dedication extends beyond his salon’s walls as he contributes to youth empowerment and community upliftment by offering employment and training programmes.

With a keen eye on future growth, he envisions expanding Nation Barber, creating more job opportunities, and nurturing aspiring entrepreneurs in the beauty industry.
