Kyalami Residents keeps it tidy

Kyalami Environs Residents and Owners Association received a donation as they conducted a community clean-up this past weekend in Beaulieu.

Kyalami Environs Residents and Owners Association (KEROA) conducted a community clean-up this past weekend in Beaulieu. The association’s community clean-ups are a regular event and this time Kyalami Corner donated three brush cutters and safety vests to help maintain the surroundings while working together with residents.

According to Louise Thompson of the KEROA, the community’s passion for the project comes from a sense of pride, respect, and genuine caring for the environment they live in. “Over the weekend a handful of willing residents and their helpers volunteered to assist in tidying up the pavement island at the entrance to Kyalami. We have a feeling of pride, respect, and genuine caring for the environment we live in and call home,” said Thompson.

Ward 94 councillor, David Foley showed support to the residents and took part in the clean-up while highlighting the importance of community involvement. “I am so proud of the team that steps up regularly to change the appearance of Kyalami Ext 1. A new committee was established after five years of being dormant. Surveys were conducted from a crime perspective and over a hundred people responded, and this was the start of bringing people together and creating a working committee. The team has stepped up through their leadership and have done a great job with the support of various organisations. I always look forward to helping the team with more clean-ups going forward,” said Foley.

Daphney Teffo, Edger Pobe, and ward 94 councillor David Foley make sure the community is properly maintained.

Thompson thanks the community for being involved in the initiative while she pleads for more support. “I would like to thank everyone who contributed, by physically being there, sponsoring a helper, or financially donating. Your commitment to uplifting the community is hugely appreciated, also special thanks to our sponsors for the ongoing support in our clean-up efforts,” she said.
