Summerhill Grade 1 orientation and bell-ringing ceremony was a success

Summerhill Preparatory School welcomed their Grade 1 classes of 2023 with the traditional bell-ringing ceremony.

The ceremony signifies their entrance into the school as well as the official start of their educational and fun-filled journey with the school.

On January 13, the Grade 1 learners and their parents were welcomed to the annual ceremony by the principal, Jessica Fritz.

The Minion-themed ceremony was opened with the school blessing and Fritz went on to explain that the learners would ring the bell twice during their time in the prep school.

“Once on entering Grade 1 to signify joining the preparatory leg of Summerhill and then again at the end of Grade 7 when they leave primary school and commence with their secondary education,” said Fritz.

On this momentous occasion, the boys looked dapper, and the girls looked beautiful in their new uniforms.

Each learner had the opportunity to strut their stuff on the red carpet before ringing the bell while their proud parents, and Grade 2 and 3 peers looked on as they took part in this special ceremony.

Though some rings were loud and others gentle, each ring of the bell came with its own uniqueness.
