Bulo dedicates EP to his late grandmother
The year 2022 has been successful one for Njabulo Masemolo aka Bulo after dropping five singles and an EP to close off the year.
Music producer and songwriter Njabulo Masemola aka Bulo has released a 10-track EP dedicated to his late grandmother Tolozani.
Titled Toliboy Part 1, it features some of the most sought-after vocalists such as Nkosazana Daughter, Mthinzi, Nana Atta and Sino Msolo to name a few.
Masemola (30), released the EP on November 25 having dropped three singles before that namely Udlala Ngami, Isondo and Mama.
Explaining the title, Masemola said his late great-grandfather used to call his grandmother Toliboy from Tolozani. “My grandmother passed away in May 2018 and this EP is dedicated to her. She has been a great influence on my music career before her passing. The songs in the EP are mostly premium African music, infused with Deep House influence that is going to set our summer groove tone. For those that love amapiano it can still make you dance with your loved ones of course,” said Masemola.
His music journey started in 2009 and while at university to study civil engineering he began composing music as a hobby.
When asked if he encountered any challenges working with some of the artists on the album he said, “We have a healthy working relationship, and although I have not met some, we do share music and beats virtually, and put the song together.
“I want people who listen to my music to be able to express their emotions, to be motivated, to feel and connect with the sound. I want the youth to resonate with my kind of music because I still maintain that commercial amapiano beat.”
The Creation Room, a production management company, assisted him in recreating and infusing his authentic amapiano sound with an African sound.
Masemola concluded that Toliboy Part 2 was ready and was just awaiting a few touch-ups and would be released in early 2023.
