Vorna Valley Netball star brings home silver from New Zealand

"We made history; we are second in the world. It’s unbelievable," said the jubilant Didintle Keebine from Vorna Valley.

After making her debut for South Africa’s Fast 5 netball team in New Zealand, Didintle Keebine has brought back home a silver medal.

Didintle Keebine is happy with her four caps for South Africa’s Fast 5 netball team in New Zealand.

The Vorna Valley netball sensation was part of the team that participated in the Fast 5 Netball World Series where they finished second after losing to Australia 20–34 in the final. This was South Africa’s highest finish yet in seven tournaments after placing third in 2012.

Keebine (26), who plays action netball for the Imbali team in Midrand, described her experience as incredible, saying she still couldn’t put everything into words. She added the journey to their second-spot finish was not easy at all. “It took a lot for us to get there as a team. It was hard and to keep on going at times seemed impossible due to the intensity of the game. We made history, we are second in the world. It’s unbelievable. It has never been done before, so in the next Fast 5 series, we are going for gold. I’m in complete awe of our time in New Zealand and everything we experienced. Our coaches knew what to do and say at the right time,” said Keebine.

She heaped praise on the coach and assistant coach Martha Mosoahle-Samm and Erin Burger respectively as this was their first tournament since their appointment.
“Going in as inexperienced players and new coaching staff is proof that anything is possible for those who believe. God really carried us through, and I hope this story God has written through us encouraged many out there.”
