First-ever matric dance held for Curro Waterfall learners

Head of High School from Curro Waterfall is adamant that the hard work put in so far might yield a 100% matric pass rate and at least 90% bachelor degree passes.

History was made at Curro Waterfall when the school held its very first matric dance and gave the Class of 2022 an experience they will never forget.

The glamourous and glittering dance event was held at the Kyalami Country Club on June 27.

Head of high school Camilla Pretorius said this has been the highlight of the learners’ schooling journey.

She said Grade 11 learners were also invited to the dance as the paparazzi and four learners were chosen as the welcoming committee.

“They [four learners] made sure all guests of honour were announced when they got out of the various luxury cars and welcomed with a cheer on the red carpet. The matric dance was to help learners relax after the mid-year examinations. This gave them something cheerful to celebrate the halfway mark of the final year. We celebrated all our learners that have persevered through the last few years of Covid-19.”

She said Grade 12s were working extremely hard to ensure the school gets a 100% matric pass rate and at least 90% bachelor’s degree passes.

Learners are currently busy with winter classes and will undergo spring revision camp before the commencement of the preliminary exams.

“The 2022 Grade 12 group is our first group to complete Grade 12 in Curro Waterfall. They will set the bar for the next groups and ensure our school’s reputation is upheld in the Waterfall and Midrand community. We have three candidates that are working extremely hard to achieve distinctions in all of their subjects.”

She said being the first group who experienced the first of almost everything at Curro Waterfall, the standard for the upcoming matric dance has been set for years to come.

Award-winning radio presenter Bolele Polisa was the guest speaker and inspired the learners with her words of encouragement.
