The stage is set for the Winter Games
All matches will take place at Lord Khanyile Hall sports ground as 32 teams go head-to-head.
After months of anticipation, soccer fans finally got their wish with the Lerato Lamola Winter Games 2022 draw being held on May 21 at Uhuru Lounge, Ivory Park.
Participating teams’ coaches gathered at the venue to find out which teams stand in their way of winning the grand prize of R70 000 come June 18.
All matches will take place at Lord Khanyile Hall sports ground, beginning on May 28 and running through to June 18.
Taking the field on the 28th will be Umlilo who will face Tembisa Sports Centre, Bridgetown will take on Liverpool in the second game of the day, Wattville will compete against Peoples Team in the third match, and Naughty Boys will match up against Bayekani in the final match of the day.
In the second day’s action on May 29, Wamtsiba Motho will face sCathulo, Bella Ciao will play Love Day, Amavutarian will take on Risanna, and Mopani United will close out the day against Mantwaneng Shakers.
On June 4, Isithembiso will play First Eleven, ADT will face Mapilla FC, Midrand Spoilers take on Mamaila FC, and Spain plays PSG.
The last fixture of the first 32 will be on June 5 with JT Black Stars against Amablesser, Samba Boys taking on Rollerridge, Bruno FC playing U First, and K9 versus Tembisa Red Devils.
Meanwhile, Lerato Lamola Winter Games and Lerato Lamola Foundation have been collecting school shoes for the past five years which are donated to schools in surrounding areas.
“Over the years we have learned to give, not because we have too much, but because we know exactly how it feels to have nothing,” said Ridge Ndlovu, the tournament coordinator.
“Once again this year from today [May 21] till the end of June, we are appealing to the members of the public to make a small donation that will help our school learners.”
