Sports and arts association attracts more people

The association's chairperson urged other people to prioritise their health by exercising regularly.

About 50 people from Noordwyk attended the second edition of the Midrand Association of Sports and Arts (Masa) outdoor aerobics class.

The fun day on May 7 included 5km and 10km walks around Midrand Primary School Park. City of Johannesburg, Trimax Club and the Dormehl Phalane property group sponsored the event.

Sipho Ndzuzo, the association’s chairperson said the aim was to ensure community members maintain a healthy lifestyle.

We [the association] are looking forward to having more events as we have more people participating and the Masa family is growing in leaps and bounds. When we talk about social cohesion, it’s when the community gets together and also exercises together which will ultimately ensure that people [get to know] each other, said Ndzuzo.

He said by us utilising these facilities and coming together with families and friends on days like these, they are also able to curb suspicious acts from taking place in the park.

Ndzuzo urged people to prioritise their health by exercising regularly as well as to join their Saturday fun runs.

Association treasurer Bongani Sibisi said he was happy with the attendance which included the elderly, youth and children. I would like to thank all the sponsors who are giving us a helping hand because without them, then we would not be able to do what we do. As an association, we are grateful and hope our partnership will go a long way in recruiting more people to join us, said Sibisi.

The association’s Theetsa Makgoka said the next planned activities will include soccer and netball for both parents and children to make it more fun.
