Joint operation continues to keep Midrand safe

Multiple drunk drivers were detained by police, resulting in better road safety in the area.

Another high visibility joint operation conducted by Midrand Community Policy Forum, Sector Crime Forums, security companies and Midrand police took place on April 26 between 19:00 and 00:00.

The teams conducted high visibility patrols and set up various stop and search points across the sectors. During this time, they also responded to an attempted hijacking and a report of cable theft.

The roads were very busy due to the public holiday, and during the operation, the teams arrested three suspects for contraventions relating to drunk driving and the illegal possession of drugs.

“We urge the community to continue reporting crime and activities in progress to us, with a reminder that the more accurate the information and location is, the more efficient and effective the response will be,” said the deputy chairperson of Midrand CPF, Tracy Basson.

“We appreciate the attendance and support by Midrand police members, Midrand CPF and Sector Crime Forums’ members, Hawkeye Security and ARN Security.”
