Young Midrand performer to represent SA in New York City

Sinomtha Klassen (15) described herself as a bubbly child who liked standing in front of the TV set to imitate her favourite cartoons which is how she fell in love with acting.

After falling in love with the entertainment industry at the tender age of eight, Sinomtha Klassen found her breakthrough seven years later.

Sinomtha will jet off to New York in July where she will spend about 10 days touring various entertainment studios, including Tyler Perry studios, in a bid to impress international judges.

The 15-year-old from Noordwyk will be performing in front of international talent agents, scouts, record labels and casting directors, auditioning in different categories such as acting, dance, singing and modelling.

Klassen described herself as a bubbly child when growing up and liked standing in front of the TV set to imitate her favourite cartoon characters and later musicals such as Cheetah Girls.

“I remember very well when I started this journey. It was in May 2021 when I saw on the internet that the International Arts Talent Showcase was having auditions in Cape Town. So, I asked my parents if I can go, and they were both concerned that it was short notice but eventually my mom accompanied me,” said Sinomtha.
The multitalented Grade 9 learner of Beaulieu College in Kyalami said she hoped she would make her mark in the entertainment industry and impress the international judges.

Asked how she felt about representing South Africa internationally at such a young age, Sinomtha said it felt surreal at first but now she knew it was happening, and she needed to work hard to achieve her dreams of making a name for herself internationally.

“It has always been my dream to go to New York when I complete my high school to further my studies there. Now that I have this opportunity in front of me, I want to grab it with both hands and try my best to make a name for myself in the entertainment industry.”

She heaped praise for her parents’ support throughout her journey.
