Locals describe their plans for Good Friday

This is how locals celebrate Easter

With the preparation for Good Friday being in full swing, Sandton Chronicle asked locals what the day subjectively means for them and how they plan to spend the day.

This is what they had to say…

BRIGID NASCIMENTO: I am catholic so for me it’s about the rising of Christ. We usually fast for a short period of time and then go to church. After church we have a big lunch and that is how we celebrate Good Friday in my family. Photo: Motlatsi Mailula
MOCKS MASEKO: For me, Good Friday is a special time meant for reflection, family and honouring the life of Christ and what He did for us. I am going to spend the day with my family and organise a small soccer tournament. Photo: Motlatsi Mailula
RICARDO CASTANHO: Good Friday is a very special day for myself and for my family. Good Friday symbolises the suffering, sacrifice and rise of Christ. How I will be celebrating it is with my wonderful family. Photo: Motlatsi Mailula
PALESA NTOAGAE: Over the years I have gone through my journey in terms of Christianity, while I recognise it’s a significant day for Christians, I turned it into a day to connect with family. Photo: Motlatsi Mailula
SINA MOYANE: I did not grow up with a religious background so for me, Good Friday is a holiday and I am very excited to celebrate it by sleeping late because I have been helping the people get ready for Mount Kilimanjaro. Photo: Motlatsi Mailula
