Hawkeye Security appeals to the public to take caution of street vendors as some sell drugs

MIDRAND — A quick response from Midrand police together with Hawkeye Security assisted in arresting the seller as well.

A local security company Hawkeye Security together with Midrand police recently apprehended an 18-year-old male suspect for being in possession of drugs.

Hawkeye Security officers on patrol saw a man behaving suspiciously in a nearby residential complex in Midrand and approached him.

Upon searching him, the officers found narcotics and dagga in his possession. Midrand police were called and the suspect was arrested.

Hawkeye Security appealed to the public to be aware of the street vendors on most streets supposedly selling sweets and chips.

“Several of these vendors have been arrested in the past and we would welcome any information that would assist us in cleaning up the community from these drug dealers,” said the company.

“We thank our security officers for being vigilant and Midrand police for their prompt response.”
