42-year-old alleged drug dealer arrested in Ivory Park

IVORY PARK – Spokesperson of the Gauteng Traffic Police said that they would continue making more arrests to destroy the supply and value chain of dagga to ensure a safe and secure province.

The Gauteng Traffic Police’s special law enforcement unit has arrested a 42-year-old male suspect in Ivory Park for dealing in dagga.

According to Sello Maremane, Gauteng Traffic Police spokesperson, the arrested suspect was found in unlawful possession of 50.7kgs of marijuana with an estimated street value of around R600 000 on February 23 at night.

Maremane said the suspect has been detained at the Ivory Park Police Station and is expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court soon to face charges relating to unlawful possession and dealing in dagga.

“The consignment was booked at Ivory Park Police Station for further investigation. The Gauteng Traffic Police will continue to root out all criminal elements as part of the safety month programme.”
Maremane said the illegal dealing and possession of dagga had far-reaching implications as it was a major contributing factor to most crimes.

He concluded that the Gauteng Traffic Police would continue to disrupt the demand and supply value chain of dagga in an effort to ensure a safe and secure Province.
