The Glen Austin Residents Association (Gara) has invited all residents of Glen Austin to join their annual general meeting to take place on February 26 at Ambrosia Hall, Glen Austin.

Chairperson of the association John Mphatsoe said that the meeting will start at 15:00.

He said the purpose of the meeting was to provide all residents of Glen Austin and other interested parties with feedback on what the association’s committee for 2021 achieved in the past year and what their challenges were, as well as to elect a new committee for the new year.

Mphatsoe said that attendees can expect a chairperson’s report from him for the previous year.

Robert Southey, the Gara treasurer, will present an overview of the financial statements for the 2021 financial year, and Judy Bird, who is the Glen Austin Conservancy representative will give feedback on the conservancy for 2021. “Our safety and community security feedback will be given by Midrand Sector 1 CPF chairperson, Jonathan Burrows.

“Working closely with the SAPS, Midrand Sector 1 CPF, local security companies, and volunteer patrollers to decrease criminal activity in Glen Austin.”

He concluded that residents who will not be able to attend the meeting physically should not stress as the meeting will be hybrid, hosted both physically and online.
